Ethiopia’s Somali State Opens a 24-Hour Solar Power Project in Boqolmayo District

The Boqolmayo area of the Liibaan region, the Somali State of Ethiopia has completed an important solar-powered electric supply project that will supply more than 43,500 households with electricity around-the-clock.

A 2-megawatt solar power plant linked to 5,292 posts with a 5.5 battery backup and an extra motor to prevent blackouts is part of the project, which is being carried out by SinoSolar of China.

Learning institutions, healthcare organisations, industries and offices for administration will all profit from this 231.6 million birr investment.

This is the fourth large solar project in the area and it supports Somali State’s initiatives to use renewable energy to strengthen the infrastructure of communities.

In addition to thanking villagers for their support and reaffirming his commitment to promoting community development in the Liibaan and Daawa regions, Regional President Mustafa M. Omer addressed the project’s contribution to quality of life.
