Installation of Security Lights and Cameras Planned by Authorities in Dar City

The government has launched an initiative to install security lights and cameras throughout Dar es Salaam to boost safety and support 24-hour business operations where feasible. Regional Commissioner Albert Chalamila highlighted this during a five-day night tour to oversee this and other ongoing projects.

Chalamila inspected the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT III) construction, stretching from the city center to Gongo la Mboto, and visited locations like Azania and Jangwani secondary schools and the Kariakoo Market. He emphasized that these security upgrades, alongside city lighting, aim to create a welcoming atmosphere, making it evident to visitors that they’ve arrived in Dar es Salaam. He encouraged swift progress, so traders feel secure and operate with confidence.

Renovation of Kariakoo Market, now 90% complete with a budget of 28 billion TZS, is undergoing final verifications for market traders to occupy their slots. This project, coordinated with the Ministry of Regional Administration and Local Governments, aims to open the market soon.
